How to choose an upright freezer
Get these seven things right and the rest is detail.
Pick the width, and the doors follow

Measure the space, then the way in: door frames, lift, corners.
Check the depth as well as the width
At the same 610 mm width, Fukushima Galilei's 650 mm ARN-062FXA-SI holds 292 L and the 800 mm ARD-062FXA-SI holds 388 L (both NEA measured).
Check the temperature range
Upright freezers here run -25 to -15°C (Fukushima Galilei) or -18 to -12°C (Berjaya).
Centre pillar or pillarless
In Fukushima Galilei model codes, F means centre pillarless. On the ARN-124FXA-SI the doors close against a fixed centre pillar; the ARN-124FXFA-SI leaves the full width open.
Read the ticks, then the kWh
NEA labels commercial storage fridges from 1 to 5 ticks. Two units with the same ticks can still differ a lot in kWh per year, so compare the number, not only the ticks. For the EEG, regulated commercial storage fridges need at least 4 NEA ticks; other commercial fridges, such as display chillers, qualify with inverter technology. Ask how fast it recovers
Every door opening lets warm air in. What protects your stock is how quickly the unit pulls back to temperature in the middle of service, not the lowest number on its display. Ask us how a model holds up in a busy service. Every door opening starts a clock
