If your application is approved, the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) can pay back up to 70% of the price of a pre-approved commercial fridge for an eligible SME. You pay the full price first; the grant comes back after your claim is approved.
The process is simple once you know the order, and there is one mistake that cannot be undone: paying the seller anything, even a deposit, or signing a contract or purchase order, before you submit your application. Below is the whole process, step by step, from the official GoBusiness and Enterprise Singapore guidance as it stood on 2 October 2026.
For the Food Services sector, your business must:
The fridge must be used in Singapore, and you must meet every criterion at the point you apply. Sole proprietors and partnerships can apply. Home-based businesses, and businesses operating from a residential address, cannot. Retail businesses (SSIC 47) use the same application form as Food Services; if your business is registered as food manufacturing (SSIC 10 to 32), you use the Manufacturing form instead.
Only the brands and models on the official pre-approved list for Food Services refrigerators qualify. Every model wearing the green EEG badge on our site is on that list.
If you need more than one model, for example an undercounter chiller and an upright freezer, each model needs its own application. The form asks for the number of units, so two of the same model can go on one application.
Ask the seller for a quotation, not an invoice. It should show a breakdown of the fees. We address ours to your company’s full registered name, exactly as on ACRA, so it matches the company details the application pulls from ACRA.
Do not pay a deposit, sign a contract or issue a purchase order before you submit the application. Any payment, even a small deposit, made before you submit makes the application “retrospective”, and it will not be supported.
Only the price of the fridge itself is supported. Delivery and installation charges are not. The seller must be a Singapore-registered business with a UEN, and must have no relationship with your business, its directors or shareholders.
You will upload:
If the outlet is not open yet, check with Enterprise Singapore before you apply: the tenancy agreement must show you have started operating there.
The form also asks you to key in revenue and net profit before tax for the past three financial years, for your company and for your group if you have one, and lets you attach the statements. If your accounts are not audited, unaudited statements or management accounts are accepted, and a new company without a full year can give year-to-date figures.
You log in with Corppass. Your company’s Corppass administrator first adds the “ApplyGov” e-Service (listed under Government Technology Agency of Singapore) to the company if it is not there yet, then assigns it to you with a BGP role. A BGP Preparer can fill in and submit the application. Only a BGP Acceptor can accept the grant offer later, so give that role to someone with authority to accept it for the company: the managing director, CEO or equivalent.
Go to apply.gov.sg/grants/business, choose BGP 2.0 and log in with Singpass as a Corppass user. Click “Apply for grants”, then “More details” on the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) Base tile, then “Apply now” on the form for Food Services & Retail. Picking the wrong form can mean resubmitting.
The form pulls your company details from ACRA, then asks for your financial figures, eligibility declarations and contact details, including who receives the Letter of Offer. In the proposal section you choose the equipment type, brand and model, enter the seller’s UEN, give the outlet address and upload the documents. In the cost section you enter the price per unit excluding GST, installation and delivery.
The business impact section asks, in your own words, how the new fridge will change the way you work, which task becomes more energy-efficient, how many hours a year your current unit runs, and the new unit’s estimated yearly energy use in kWh. For fridges registered with the National Environment Agency (NEA), that last figure is on the NEA energy label, which our product pages show. The portal says the form takes about 30 minutes with everything ready.
You must submit it yourself. Sellers are not allowed to apply on your behalf or help you with the application, and you should never share your Corppass login with a seller.
An application usually takes 4 to 10 weeks to process once the documents are complete. You can follow it under “All grants” on the BGP 2.0 dashboard, and the agency may come back to you with questions.
Once it is approved, your Corppass Acceptor opens “Updates required”, clicks “View offer”, reads the Letter of Offer and accepts it.
Officially, once the application is submitted you may buy before the outcome, but if it is not approved you cannot claim. Our advice is to wait for approval before you pay.
From the approval date you have up to 12 months to buy and install the fridge and submit your claim. You can ask once, before the due date, to extend it by 6 months. Miss the due date and the claim can no longer be made.
Buy the exact model, from the seller named in your application. The seller or package cannot be changed after approval without a new application. Do not accept free gifts, extra items or other incentives from the seller with the purchase. Pay in full before you claim, and pay from your company’s bank account, not in cash or from a personal card, so the proof of payment shows your company’s name.
On the portal, go to “All grants”, open your project with “View Project” and click “Submit new” under Claim. This is when you need the invoice. You upload:
We hand you the invoice and delivery order, and we photograph the serial number plate at delivery.
The grant is paid only after the claim is approved, into your company’s bank account by PayNow Corporate (within 14 working days of claim approval) or GIRO (up to 8 weeks). Set one of them up in advance; without either, the grant cannot be paid.
Your company must still meet the eligibility criteria when you claim, and you must keep the fridge for at least one year after the final claim is approved.
Up to 70% for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs, on pre-approved equipment. For Food Services this is the Base Tier, capped at S$30,000 per company and shared across all of your EEG Base applications from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2028. The Base Tier is open until 31 March 2028 and the Advanced Tier until 31 March 2027. The Base Tier has also been expanded to all sectors through a generic list that covers air-conditioners and LED lighting; commercial refrigerators stay on the sector-specific lists. Rules change from time to time, so check the current terms on GoBusiness before you commit.

No. You apply with the seller’s quotation. The invoice comes later, at the claim stage, after you have bought, installed and paid for the fridge.
You must submit the application before paying anything, including a deposit. After submitting you may buy before the outcome, but if the application is not approved you cannot claim, so the safe course is to wait for approval.
No. Applicants must submit their own applications, sellers may not help with them, and you should not share your Corppass login with a seller.
Usually 4 to 10 weeks from the time the agency has a complete set of documents.
No. Each model needs its own application, though several units of the same model can go on one. All your applications count towards the same S$30,000 cap per company.
